PAKISTAN INFLATION RATE UP TO TO 8.55% IN AUGUST
The highest non-food products price increases were registered in: postal services (26 percent), woolen readymade garments (19 percent), text books (15.9 percent), tailoring (15.8 percent), dopatta (15 percent) and cotton cloth (15 percent).
On a month-over-month basis, the index for food and non-alcoholic beverages went up 2.07 percent in August, due to higher prices of onions (34.6 percent), chicken (12.15 percent) and potatoes (7.4 percent).
Year-on-year core inflation measured by non-food non-energy CPI accelerated to 8.5 percent in August, from 8.2 percent in July and 10.8 percent a year earlier.

Year-on-year, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages accelerated 10.12 percent, from 8.9 percent in July, mainly due to a 18.5 percent increase in cost of perishable food items. Highest food price increases were registered in: onions (70 percent), tomatoes (45 percent), fresh vegetables (27.2 percent), wheat flour (27 percent), chicken (26 percent) and tea (25 percent). In contrast, prices of pulse gram decreased 28.3 percent, besan (- 26 percent) and gram whole (- 21.25 percent).
